Himalaya is a company with a  mission and  belief that good health should be accessible to everyone, and they strive to make this possible through our commitment to science-driven herbal healthcare. All the ingredients mentioned on the pack are herb based. So, I found it a better option than chemical laden hair spa creams and also hair serums because this product can be used both pre and post hair wash. Protein Hair Cream nourishes your hair with natural proteins derived from ingredients like Wheatgerm and Chickpea, while Indian Gooseberry and Thistles promote hair growth.

Direction for Use :

Massage into hair and scalp pre wash. Follow with a mild and nourishing shampoo and conditioner. Post wash, you may use it like a serum in damp hair.

By my personal experience, I would say that if you are using it post wash then use it on the length of hair only otherwise hair might get oily. Best for dry, lifeless hair and hair loss. Safe to use on artificially colored or permed hair.

Key Ingredients :

Indian Gooseberry:

It prevents dandruff, strengthens hair follicles and promotes hair growth. It also acts as an antioxidant.

Chickpea:

source of proteins for making hair healthy and strong.

Thistle :

It strengthens the hair root and prevents hair fall

Shelf life : 3 years

Color : White

Smell :  herbal and mild

What Himalaya Herbals hair cream claims:

A natural hair cream full of goodness, Himalaya’s Protein Hair Cream nourishes the hair root and shaft. Its specially formulated ingredients strengthen hair, promote hair growth and leave your hair soft and looking shiny.

My experience with Himalaya Protein hair cream:

I used with a lot of hopes since it was my first experience with a hair cream. I used it as a massage cream by rubbing it into my scalp as well as hair and skipped oiling. This does not feel greasy as oil but yes you can feel that your hair is slightly moisturised.

It has to be left in hair for 1 hour before head wash. I followed it with my routine shampoo as well as conditioner. My hair was nice and soft after that. No visible difference in shine though.

Second time I used it like a serum and applied it on my scalp as well as length of hair and my scalp grew all greasy leaving me sad.

I had to wash my hair again. So, on my third try I used in only on length of my hair after shampooing and there was no oiliness on my scalp. Just soft, manageable and frizz free hair.

You need quite a small amount of this protein cream after hair wash. However before hair wash you need an amount enough to moisten your hair well. I prefer using it after hair wash only to control the frizz.

Overall, a nice product if you want to ditch serums. It kind of works like a leave in conditioner.
